Welcome to "Berwick Arts and Crafts"
The aim of this website is to provide you with
- details of previous Arts and Crafts Festivals and Fairs as an Archive resource and show how much work was achieved by so many;
- "Looking Locally" provides a summary of local groups;
- the links page gives an idea of the wealth or Artistic and Creative talent that is in the area with a long list of local artists in the area and supporters of the group and
- Facebook provides a flavour of what else is happening such
as other exhibitions, courses, workshops and so much more in Berwick
and the surrounding area.
Northumberland C19 pages were added in 2019 and provides
patterns and details of the tremendous effort by stitchers to support
the frontline staff during the Covid Pandemic. Work is still ongoing 4 years later, with handmade items going still going locally, to the RVI and to Ukraine; hospitals and orphanges.
The good news is that the Berwick Arts and Crafts Facebook page, which has over 600 followers and growing, will continue to promote events on the local arts and crafts scene. The website will also remain as a resource of all the fantastic community work achieved.
February 2024, this website is currently being updated, thank you for your patience. Lots has been happening but I haven't updated this site for over a year so just doing so now.. firstly with adding a patterns page to make it easier.
The Berwick Arts and Crafts Group sadly disbanded on 31st July 2016. It was made up of voluntary members with an interest in the arts and crafts and was set up in 2010 to:
-
promote the interest of arts and crafts in the Berwick-upon-Tweed area
-
form a group that will develop the Berwick Arts and Crafts Festival
-
organise “Arts and Crafts events” which are open to everyone
I (on behalf of the previous committee) would like to thank most sincerely everyone who has supported the group over the years, whether businesses, artists or other groups. "We" are immensely grateful to them. “Huge thanks is also due to the members of our small committee who have given so generously of their time and skills.”
The archive of what has been achieved over the years still remains, this to show and acknowledge the amazing hard work that took place. With heartfelt thanks, Annie.
